Daniel Saakes MSc. Phd. studied Industrial Design Engineering at the Delft University of Technology and graduated in 2001 on storytelling in virtual reality applications at the Dutch National High Performance Computing Center (SARA). In 2010 he succesfully defended his Phd. regarding
sketching materials in design.
Daniel is a maker and his designs have been featured in blogs, magazines, books and are exhibited in FreeDesigndom Amsterdam, Netherlands Architecture Instute (NAi), Hangaram Design Museum in Seoul, Taiwanese Designers Week, Dutch Design Week, Ars Electronica and Siggraph Emerging Technologies. The cost effective motion capture technology he developed for kung fu toys with audio feedback, resulted in two succesfull startups in toy and sports industry. From 2009 to 2010 he visited the Camera Culture Group in MIT The Media Lab. Currently he is interested in end-user creativity, visualisation and design tools
