Rich Viz!

Creating rich representations in which design teams can immerse themselves to gain empathy with the user and the context of use requires skill and experience. Techniques such as storyboards, videocollages, personas, and infographics are easily read, but not so easy to make.
In Spring 2006, we organized an experimental elective course on these techniques, combining our research on the topic with the experiences of some 15 of our students and in connection with a case from industrial practice.

RichViz 2006 brochure can be downloaded

On the basis of the course, we created a brochure/booklet. We've run out of printed copies, but the pdf can be downloaded in two parts. Beware: you get two copies for the price of one, because each page is included twice (sorry for that).

course description 2006

We created two small papers, describing the course requirements for students (richviz elective) and the project description for the industrial partner (richviz project). In short, participating students must have a basic training of the course id4215 Context & Conceptualization, and must be motivated to develop their existing visualization skills through theoretical study and exercise. The industrial partner must have a design team that works with user data, and participate in the project.
